I’m so happy my blog gave you some comfort in knowing we’re all different, but that many of us experience getting our periods back even while exclusively breastfeeding. It’s helpful to hear the “average”sometimes, but women need to know the other common and uncommon scenarios that our bodies might act like.
If you’ve been ttc since May, you’re probably already doing it, but start tracking your cycle so you start knowing a) if you’re ovulation, and b) if you have a long enough luteal to maintain a fertilized egg. And you are absolutely right, your body is still probably just taking it’s time getting back into it’s “normal” cycle because you’re still breastfeeding.

With both of my babies I got my period back after I stopped bleeding from birth as well. I’m like whhaaaaaaat I’m not suppose to I’m exclusively breastfeeding ?! But nope, aunt flow wanted to make her appearance! So with my daughter I didn’t nurse her but 4 months but my son on the other hand, I’m still nursing him and he’s 19 months. I have had my period back since 6 weeks PP. I figured “since I have my period I’m ovulating”. Well we have been trying for another one since May and I haven’t been able to get pregnant. This is so strange for us because we are super fertile. A lot of people are saying it’s because I still nurse him so much at night. I’m trying to wean soon because 1. We would love another and 2. He needs to start sleeping through the night soon! Haha. So fact: you can have your period back and be breastfeeding and still not be able to get pregnant ! All worms are soooo different!!!
