Where you ever called “crazy” when you told your friends and family about your birth plan?… Are you planning on sharing your birth plan with others? Yes?… then this is a post you will all relate to!
Questions From the Ones Who Call Me Crazy
Where are you having her? – “ At home”
That’s legal? Good luck with that… – Really???
What if something goes wrong? … It will be handled accordingly by the midwives (and it was!)
No doctor? Are you sure about this? – Yes…the midwives know more about natural birth than any OB (and in mi case they were amazing and full of knowledge and patience for each situation that occurred).
What if you need a C-section? – I am not getting interventions and I am low risk and healthy…my body can do this on its own (if I would have been in a hospital, I’m a 100% sure I would of ended up with a C-section for my first child who was not even 8 lbs because they would have told me I was too exhausted to continue and my pelvis was too small for my baby).
What if the baby needs oxygen? – She will get it… from the midwives (and none was needed but they would have handled it if required.)
What if you tear? – I will be stitched… by the midwives (not one tear…with a 3.5 hour push. If I was in a hospital I would have been cut resulting in a 3rd to 4th degree tear no matter what… and probably I would have still ended up with a C-section after that).
What if your baby is too big? – I don’t even have words for this one… (my baby was positioned in a way that made it tough for the final stages of labor… but with the support and patience of my midwives I was able to naturally deliver her at 7lb 9oz).
What happens when the pain is too much? – It won’t be… but IF, not when, that Happens, I push through it like every woman has done since beginning of time (yes the pain got bad.. horrible… and with the love and support of my fiancé and midwives… I kept on going knowing it would pass and knowing I was not alone)
“Teresa this is really hard for you and it is really painful… but is also very natural and you are safe.” -Heather Daniel midwife
“You’re so amazing. That’s it… that is the way..” -Yuliya Labko student midwife
“You are my new hero, a birthing goddess.” -Lauren Allmond birth photographer
“This is awesome…You look so beautiful right now I wish you could see what I can see right now” -Albe Minnix.. fiancé and father
*It is said that when women give birth they leave their bodies, they travel to the stars and find the souls of their babies and they return to the world together*
Don’t let anyone ever discourage a path you believe is right for you…
