I think that the best words to describe the way I feel at the moment would be “pure happiness and satisfaction”, I’ll tell you why…
Exactly two weeks ago we decided to jump in the wagon and organize our very first Big Latch On in NYC with the help of my co-hosts Lisa Maloney and Kiki Valentine. With such a short time there were things that needed to get done in order to have a nice event. I have to be honest, at the very beginning I only expected between 30-40 mothers to participate and I would have been very happy with that turnout. Little did I know that those 30-40 participants would turn into: 104 attendees, 69 Breastfeeding Mothers and 48 latched babies! Our event was a real success thanks to each and everyone of you!

It was amazing to see families gather in Bryant Park to support our cause and be a part of the Global Big Latch On. Daddies, sisters, little brothers and even friends came together to cheer all the mommas and babies during our very first NYC Big Latch On. It is very rewarding to see how every year more families decide to take the path of nursing their little ones. Moms from different nationalities and ethnic backgrounds were united with one purpose, to help promote breastfeeding!

As we had previously announced, our meeting began in Bryant Park were we gathered and had our registration process done while enjoying the beautiful weather, a great workout routing done but the amazing Sylvia Scalia, some nice giveaways thanks to our sponsors, some yummy lactation cookies baked by Lisa Maloney and a delicious prenatal tea courtesy of our friends from Hey Mama Teas

We then proceeded to walk together to Times Square to find our spot and to get ready for the actual NYC Big Latch On. At 10:30 am we had 48 moms successfully latched and nursed all throughout the entire minute. Our witness did an amazing job keeping count of each of the moms as well.

After our amazing group shot in Times Square we returned to Bryant Park for the amazing raffle that we had planned! Great prizes were given away but I have to say, it really gave me satisfaction being able to do our bit and help out another momma in need. Our dear friends from Spectra Baby USA had sent us the Spectra S1 Hospital Grade Pump and we knew we needed to find the right person for it and so we did. Kelsie Moore took home the pump with great joy, the one her insurance covered broke down after a couple days of use and she was forced to start renting a pump to be able to provide her little girl with the nourishment she needed. Kelsie, you can now return that pump and enjoy your brand new Spectra S1 thanks to Spectra Baby USA and Breastfeeding World.

I would like to thank each and everyone of our sponsors for their generosity and collaboration, please visit them and let them know how grateful you are as well. The officers at Bryant Park were outstanding, special thanks to Officer Ocasio for his generosity and support to our cause. We truly appreciate it.

I wish I could come to the Big Latch On in NYC!!! I couldn’t even make it to our local BLO and it had less than 10 mommas. It’s so amazing to see this on the larger scale! Great job, mommas!!

What a powerful movement! I am a mom of a 3 month old and also breastfeed and this to me is just beautiful! Not to mention this being done in Times Square!!! My home town where I was born and raised! NY will always have power movements with amazing people such as yourself and all these amazing mamas! Great job!

I LOVE IT! What a great turnout for the Big Latch On in NYC! this could go nationwide. It’s only in this country that there is such stigmatism toward breastfeeding. I was truly moved reading about your experience in New York.

Thank you Connie, I appreciate the kind words! We couldn’t have done it without the support of each and everyone one of the moms pictured <3 Thanks for supporting the breastfeeding community! <3

Wow! Your very first NYC Big Latch On event had such a spectacular turnout with so many proud mommies. I love that over 100 parents showed up to support the cause and raise awareness. You, Lisa, and Kiki did such a spectacular job in putting together the event in only 2 weeks time!

NYC always has so many colorful scenes to photograph, but this is one of my favorites of yours! I love that you blend both of your passions, breastfeeding and photography, into one great work. You show the beauty of feeding babies as nature intended. The Big Latch On looks like a huge success!

It’s amazing to see so many breastfeeding moms in Times Square! All those babies are so happy just having their milk while moms get to hang out with each other.
